Professor Rachel Gordan is the Samuel “Bud” Shorstein fellow in American Jewish Culture & Society at the University of Florida where she teaches in the department of religion and the Center for Jewish Studies. Gordan’s book, Postwar Stories: How Books Made Judaism American was published by Oxford University Press in 2024 and won a Jordan Schnitzer First Book Publication Award. She has published extensively in academic journals including Religion and American Culture, Jewish Studies Quarterly, and Jewish Social Studies, as well as in more popular publications. During the 2024-2025 academic year, she is a National Endowment for the Humanities Public Scholars fellow at the Center for Jewish History in New York. Professor Gordan received her doctorate from Harvard and her BA from Yale College.
